2018 Donation Recipients
Nicole Tomaino
At only 27, Nicole was diagnosed with a blood cancer called MDS. MDS is an aggressive Pre-Leukemia and very rare for someone of her age. Because of the level of excess blasts and how fast it could turn into an aggressive Leukemia (AML), the doctors had her start Chemotherapy right away. Since she has been in the hospital, she has gone through multiple blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies. It is a very difficult process, as her Immune System has to basically be wiped out to get rid of the existing bone marrow and then be replaced with the new marrow.
Nicole has always been there to help others, and now it is time for her to get all the support she can get! Go to the link above and donate to Nicole's Go Fund Me Campaign and to stay updated with her through her fight.
UPDATE: July 16, 2019
6 Months Leukemia Free! Last Friday, I had my 6 month bone marrow biopsy to confirm that I am still cancer free and I just got the call today that it was clear and I am still 100% donor DNA!!!

2018 Honorary Angels
Isaac “Ike” Arnold
Just Be Colorado is proud to honor Mr. Isaac “Ike” Arnold (1941 – 2018). Mr. Arnold has gained his wings after a long battle of acute myeloid leukemia. He was a member of the IBEW Local 113 and also worked as an electrical inspector for about 10 years after retiring as an electrician. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, son, Richard, daughters Brenda & Jennifer (pictured in front of the Eden Angels Arts Wall), and 8 grandchildren. He liked to spend time with his family and enjoyed riding, showing and building motorcycles. One thing is for certain, no woman, man, child or family should have to battle the effects of cancer alone, and with Just Be, they don't have to. Thanks to the continued support of our community, Just Be was able to assist Ike's family during this difficult time. Trish
Trish from Monument, Colorado was a survivor of brain cancer and loved by many. Although cancer free, numerous surgeries to resolve complications due to a brain hemorrhage were to no avail. She sadly passed away Wednesday, September 19th 2018. Trish was loved by everyone she met and had cherished friends from Ohio to Oklahoma to Colorado where she finished high school at Lewis Palmer. She loved the outdoors and followed Derek on many elk and deer hunts. She truly enjoyed cruising second seat on hers’ and her husbands’ Harley Davidson. A spark of life which motivated her to endure and fight beyond most human strength was her granddaughter, Blake Bullock. Blake gave Trish super-human strength to beat cancer though she finally succumbed to a brain hemorrhage. Trish's fight is an inspiration to us all and we will continue to honor her not only as our 2018 Honorary Angel, but as the strong, courageous fighter she was. Her fighting spirit will continue to live on through all of us. |
2017 Donation Recipient
Leah Hadley
Leah was a beautiful young lady with huge ambitions to one day become a DJ. Leah was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive Sertoli-Leydig cell cancer, which accounts for only 0.5 percent of all ovarian cancers. The surgical team removed the large primary tumor and several smaller tumors that were attached to her abdomen wall and other organs, but they were unable to remove all of the cancer, and unfortunately it grows very rapidly and has spread. It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news that precious Leah passed away Monday evening, July 23rd 2018 in Pueblo, CO. We ask that you continue to keep Leah's family in your prayers during this difficult time. |

Henrietta Abeyta
Ms. Abeyta is a breast cancer survivor and a believer in the power of healing. She makes a point to encourage others around her to continuously receive wellness checks and investigate their hereditary health history. She is a kind and compassionate soul who has agreed to help Just Be Colorado and it's journey. We love you Ms. Henrietta and are so proud to call you a survivor! |
Merlyn Yaris
Mrs. Yaris was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer that ended up spreading to her lymph nodes. This aggressive form of cancer was detected during her annual mammogram. 3 of 9 of her siblings were diagnosed with breast cancer, her two sisters having fought and won through a mastectomy and her older sister through radiation therapy. Mrs. Merlyn underwent aggressive chemotherapy treatments and a double-mastectomy and we are proud to announce that she is now cancer free! With the help of Just Be sponsors like Living Rose Wellness, Chloe Maddison Skin Microblading & Permanent Makeup Studio, Eden Salon and Barber Shop, & Gypsy-Evolution Hair Salon, we were able to provide invaluable resources and services to help Mrs. Yaris during one of the toughest times of her life. Cancer does not define Mrs. Merlyn or anyone else battling cancer. We are honored to have been part of her journey and look forward to seeing where her next chapter takes her. Services that our sponsors have provided have helped her continue to feel positive, confident and beautiful. This is why we do what we do. |
2015 Honorary Angels
Nadine Hosmer
Nadine was diagnosed with Clarks level 4+ Melanoma in March 2009, right as her career was starting to take off, and Wilson's disease (WD) in 2013 (a rare genetic disease that only affects about 10,000 people globally). Wilson's disease causes tremors, cognitive deterioration and slower mobility. Due to the disease and the loss in her voice, Nadine had to step down from her senior sales role and was hospitalized in April 2015. She is a true survivor and has fought against all odds thus is doing better today. She resides near Denver, CO where she is raising two beautiful little girls and absolutely loves being a mom. |
Kari Richards
Kari was diagnosed with brain cancer roughly 13 years ago, and she truly embodies the definition of survivor! She has fought through surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, beating her tumor into remission; however, recently her tumor has returned. Kari and her son Jordan found a new solution in the form of a less invasive treatment with a magnetic device called Optune. Optune uses alternating electric fields to stop cancer cells from dividing, which ultimately kills them. Although this treatment is a blessing, she has been unable to work. During treatment this year, this family's main focus is solely on getting healthy and not stressing about bills piling up. Funds raised by Just Be Colorado's fashion show have assisted this family during a very difficult time. |
